Anova has long been a leader in the sous vide category and the company has taken another step to improve how consumers use the cooking method.
The new Anova Precision Reusable Silicone bag for sous vide cooking provides an alternative to single-use plastic bags that have long been used by home cooks to make and store various foods.
The BPA-free bag provides an airtight seal that allows the consumer to easily remove air from the bag by hand and roll the top to close. The half-gallon bag can withstand temperatures from -40° Fahrenheit up to 446° Fahrenheit and is dishwasher safe, allowing it to be used over and over again.
“Each year, millions of single-use plastics end up in landfills and the ocean,” said Steve Svajian, CEO and CO-Founder of Anova. “At Anova, we want to pave the way for sustainable sous vide cooking and the Anova Precision Reusable Silicone bag is another step on our journey to be an overall more sustainable company.”
Svajian said the company’s goal is to have a fully recyclable or compostable vacuum sealer bag available by 2022.
As the company works to meet that goal, it has already altered the makeup of its current vacuum sealer bags to make the plastic neutral. This was done through a partnership with Plastic Bank.
