Conn’s has started the New Year by expanding its presence in the southeast with new stores in Florida and Alabama.

In the Sunshine State, the retailer on February 5 will open showrooms in Tampa’s Horizon Park shopping center and Bradenton’s Cortez Plaza.

The two stores mark Florida’s second and third Conn’s HomePlus showrooms, bringing total operating units to 149 locations across 15 states.

Recently, Conn’s expanded into the Mobile, Ala., market with the opening of a location at the Springdale Mall on January 8.

“As we expand the Conn’s HomePlus footprint, we are excited to increase our presence in the Sunshine State,” said Norm Miller, Conn’s HomePlus Chairman and CEO. “The expansion planned throughout the state will open more opportunities to positively impact the customers and communities we serve while solidifying our commitment in Florida.”

Miller added that the success of the company’s Alabama stores indicated the need to expand to better serve its customers in the southern part of the state.

According to the company, the new Florida stores offer residents an alternative for affordable home goods shopping and boast more than 87,000 square feet combined and showcase a variety of furniture, mattresses, top-of-the-line appliances, consumer electronics and home office products.

The new Mobile store offers 46,410 square feet of space.
