New cookware in Crate & Barrel's Kitchen by Crate collection.

The Crate & Barrel kitchenware assortment was recently freshened with the retailer’s Kitchen by Crate private label collection.

Designed in-house, the collection includes cookware, bakeware, utensils, storage along with other products.

Kitchenware Today spoke with Alicia Waters, chief marketing officer, at Crate & Barrel to get a bit of insight on the new collection 


KITCHENWARE TODAY: What motivated C&B to develop the Kitchen by Crate line?
Alicia Waters: With people spending more time than ever in the kitchen, we know that our customers are being intentional about how they use their kitchen space and what goes in it. Our goal was to bring customers design-forward, high-quality kitchen items at a great value and that are approachable for the everyday home cook. 

KWT: What differentiates the C&B line from others currently in the market?
AW: Our talented in-house design team members spent a year rigorously designing, testing, and executing a line with exceptional design, quality and value. From the beginning, the focus was on high functionality with ergonomic handles and smooth rivets for easy cleaning and durability for the everyday cook, with copper EvenCookCore of aluminum and stainless steel to cook consistently and last longer.

KWT: Is C&B working with existing vendors on the line or sourcing direct from factories?
AW: Crate & Barrel designed every piece in-house and is partnering with external vendors to bring the thoughtful designs to life.

KWT: Are any of the products in the Kitchen by Crate line made in the US?
AW: The products are all imported from outside of the United States.

KWT: Are there plans to expand the product assortment?
AW: Customers have been loving the options The Kitchen by Crate has for every step of cooking and entertaining, from cookware to cooking utensils and beautiful cutting boards. While we are focused on getting The Kitchen by Crate line into customers’ hands right now before expanding the line, we are always listening to their needs for new product inspiration.
