Consumer response to the new Pyrex Disney collection of glass food storage has been strong as the assortment featuring Mickey Mouse twice within a month quickly sold out each time it was offered for sale on Pyrex.com.

Disney products in the world of kitchenware have long been popular items and top sellers at retail, and the demand for the collection from Pyrex came as little surprise to company officials.

“We’ve been thrilled with the overwhelmingly positive reception to the collection, but it’s no surprise,” said Mike Scheffki, vice president of Marketing and Brand Experience at Corelle Brands, the parent company of Pyrex. “Mickey Mouse and Pyrex are similar as they’re both timeless icons that have helped spread joy for generations. Together, it’s a recipe for success.”

The big question now on the lips of consumers is what’s next for the assortment featuring iconic images of Mickey Mouse and when will they be back in stock.

Scheffki said there are surprises in store for the remainder of 2020 that will “excite and delight” fans across the country, but offered few specifics. He suggests consumers should follow the social media accounts of Pyrex for the latest product news, especially as back-to-school and the holiday shopping seasons approach.

Beyond the Mickey Mouse glass food storage assortment, Corelle Brands has had success with other Disney properties, most notably its Star Wars collection sold under the Pyrex and Corelle brands.

“This illustrates the enduring appeal of iconic characters that we grew up with and continue to love today,” Scheffki said. “Whether it’s on your favorite Pyrex food storage, Corelle dinnerware or Instant Pot pressure cooker —  a little smile from Mickey, or little saying from a new sensation like The Child (a.k.a. Baby Yoda), has a big impact on the cooking, dining and storing experience.

While the Disney collections have been available only online through Pyrex, products featuring Mickey Mouse and Star Wars will also be available this fall at major retailers. But which chains will be carrying them remains unknown.
