Staub has cooked up a new cast iron shape — the Tall Cocotte — a taller version of the company’s classic 4-quart cocotte.
Featuring a slim profile, the new cocotte offers 20% more capacity and provides the heat retention and distribution commonly associated with cast iron cookware.
The higher profile of the new 5-quart cocotte eliminates much of the splatter on the stovetop commonly seen when deep-frying various items such a chicken, potatoes or doughnuts.
Additionally, the cookware is designed for braising tall bone-in cuts of meat such as lamb shanks or steaming tall vegetables such as artichokes.
The cocotte is offered with a heavyweight, tight-fitting lid that retains moisture with tiny spikes on the lid’s interior that creates a “rain-forest effect” evenly returning juices back onto food. Textured black matte enamel interior requires no seasoning and ensures exceptional browning, and heat retention and distribution.
Made in France, Staub’s Tall Cocotte is oven safe up to 500° Fahrenheit and is dishwasher safe, although hand wash is recommended.
