Off-price retailer Tuesday Morning has new leadership as Fred Hand has been named chief executive officer effective May 17.
Most recently at Burlington Stores where he served as chief operating officer, Hand held several key positions for the retailer including Chief Customer Officer/Principal and executive vice president of Stores. Prior, he worked for Macy’s, Filene’s Department Stores and May Department Stores.
“Fred is an exceptional retailer with outstanding operating, merchandising, and leadership skills, and importantly has a deep understanding of the off-price business model,” said Sherry Smith, chairperson of Tuesday Morning’s Board of Directors. “His record of strong leadership at Burlington and extensive experience at other leading retailers will be instrumental in driving long-term value for Tuesday Morning.”
“I look forward to working closely with the company’s board, management team and talented associates to take the company to the next level,” Hand said. “I am motivated to build this organization to one that will not just compete, but win.”
Hand’s appointment follows the previously announced transition of Steven Becker, who will step down from his role as CEO and director. Becker will continue to serve in a consultancy role until September 30 to ensure a smooth transition.
Tuesday Morning operates 490 stores in 40 states providing a solid footprint for future growth. It continues to provide a consistently attractive product mix of name-brand, high-quality products for the home at favorable prices for consumers.
