Consumers looking for a new kitchen trash receptacle that combines a high degree of functionality with style should check out the new assortment at West Elm.

The home specialty retailer is now carrying three new receptacles from simplehuman: a dual compartment recycler, liner rim step can and slim step can. Also part of the mix are two new items from Brabantia: the 8-gallon Icon trash can and sort & go bin. Rounding out the new selections at West Elm is a stainless steel trash can with a motion sensor.

Below is an outline of each new product’s key features.

Serving as two trash cans in one, the dual compartments allow the user to separate their trash and recyclables without the need for another bin in the kitchen. Made from brushed stainless steel, each bin contains its own plastic bucket. Other features include a silent closing lid and liner pocket that holds up to 20 liners.

The slim design of the rectangular step can keeps trash out of sight. Made of brushed stainless steel, the trash can is equipped with a silent closing lid and has a liner pocket that holds up to 20 liners.

For those that are tight on space in their kitchen, the slim step can might be your solution. Its pedal is engineered to last at least 15,000 steps. The brushed stainless steel can offers a capacity of 11.8 gallons.

Featuring a large handle and smart grip, the sorting can is easy to empty and can be used to collect anything from bottles and cans to everyday trash. Made in Belgium, the bin has a capacity of 6.6 gallons.

Designed to be space-efficient and easy to clean, the trash can features a soft closure pedal that requires only a slight push from your foot. Made in Belgium, the can has a capacity of 8 gallons.

The brushed stainless steel can’s motion sensor allows you to open the lid with a simple wave of the hand. The lid closes softly after five seconds.
